Advanced Characterization of the 3D morphology of the Bone-Tendon Interface

Within my research project I aim to develop insights in the morphology and the structure-function relationships of the bone-tendon interface. To this end, advanced characterization of the structural, compositional and biomechanical properties will be applied, which includes contrast-enhanced microCT (CECT), Raman spectroscopy, nano-indentation and in-situ loading combined with 4D CECT. A better understanding of this complex biological tissue is believed to greatly improve the probability of success of regenerative strategies aiming to treat injuries of the bone-tendon interface.
